As far as anyone threatening me to take my website down...shame on you. Whether to go to the advocate about getting a doctor outside of the VA system, or to figure out what the hell is going on with my shoulder/arm. I got the approval to go to OrthNY. I was told the VA was sending all the reports (surgery notes, radiologists notes, etc). I took it upon myself to get the films on disk along with the radiologists reports, not even thinking about the surgical notes. So I get to my appointment last Thursday and yep you guessed it....the VA sent nothing!!! Fortunately I had what I had at least, but still seriously? This is what I mean when I say this is a complete scandalous coverup. Then I had an EMG ordered by the civilian Dr at OrthoNY and they said if I didn't have one set up in 2 days to call so I did. I wasn't shocked to hear that the reason my EMG wasn't set up for an appointment because they were awaiting the VA for payment/authorization. I also won't be surprised when the VA says they have an EMG at their facility. Of course....because then they can cover the ass of the piss poor orthopedic shoulder surgeon's ass.
What it is wrong with these people? I have tried to figure the VA out for years and it won't make any difference. They cover their own ass no matter what. This guy that is a civilian told me that the surgery may have damaged something in my shoulder/arm(maybe the nerves or the rotator cuff). He said it can never be fixed but there is a possibility to do a surgery to alleviate the pain. Gee thanks...this doesn't make me feel any better...even more pissed that this happened. In the beginning of all this it was explained how this injury was common and an easy fix. As a matter of fast, this same dumb ass surgeon, whom I've only met twice, told me prior to the surgery, that the arthroscopic surgery was just a formality and there probably wasn't any thing warranting further surgical intervention. The pre surgical paperwork listed several things that could "possibly" be done during the procedure, and every damn one was done along with a 3 day hospital stay. So what the hell is wrong here? I can even take a picture of the surgical paperwork with the list of things that were a possibility (he had a damn resident do them all).
At my occupational therapist appointment on Friday the 2nd, I went to ROI (release of information) and told her that the place didn't receive anything. She was genuinely shocked and apologized profusely, as she was the one that put my films onto disk and gave me radiologist notes(i didn't even ask for at the time). She shook her head. Yes I know there are genuine people that want to do the right thing and do their damn job, but for most part the rest don't give a damn or try to cover shit up for their coworkers(whether they want to or not). If you are a veteran you need to advocate for yourself at all costs! She faxed what I needed immediately to that civilian provider. But seriously guys, advocate for yourselves, because the VA expects you won't and this will bite you in the ass....seriously. I am so over it. I am sure if you have read my previous posts you will see that this is the only way things may or will get anywhere with this shitty system.
As far as anyone threatening me to take my website down...shame on you. Whether you are employed by the VA(I was at one point) or not, I have the freedom of speech. Well at least we still have that freedom, although sometimes I hardly think it matters.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
So don't threaten me to take my site down or to stop what I am doing. I hardly think I am the only veteran that is experiencing these issues, nor do I think I will be the last. I only want my voice heard and shared as I hope that maybe it will matter or help someone.
